Next meeting   July 25th 2019  7:00.

Bee sure to attend this action-oriented meeting to see what the buzz is about!

This meeting will feature a very special guest: Certified Master Gardener and Certified Florida Master Naturalist with University of Florida Neta Villalobos-Bell. Villalobos-Bell will speak about the connection between native plants and pollinators.

Today, bird, butterfly and insect populations in our areas are declining due to lack of the native plants.

Why is this significant? 1 in 3 bites of food we eat is courtesy of the insect population. During the meeting, you'll learn how to attract pollinators in your yard and how we can encourage local governments to do the same. For example, what if the plants in the medians were native pollinators?

We'll also earn more about pollinators needed for sustaining the world food chain individually and how to encourage our local cities to do the same by becoming a bee city.

By working together, our goal is to make a difference in reversing the threat currently facing pollinators around the world.

Local - What can I do?

Support the preservation of Seminole County Rural lands. Aug 6, 1-3pm

The Seminole County Board of County Commissioners will be having a work session regarding Natural Lands on August 6th from 1-3pm in Conference Room #3024 at the County Services Building 1101 E. First Street Sanford.

SemDem environmentalists need to be a visible presence in support of natural land preservation in Sem. Co. The issue is a piece of property next to the Econ River (inside the rural boundary). This is the property where River Cross was proposed, and developers will never stop trying to get the zoning changed until it is “off the market.” The Natural Lands program could purchase the property, thereby protecting the Econ River. That’s why this session is so important. read More
